    We are looking for a Education and Community Outreach Manager to join our team in Los Angeles.

    Job Profile

    Main Tasks include oversight of all educational and community outreach programs.
    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Coordinate and oversee all community outreach initiatives including partnerships with schools and colleges, internship programs, public tours and family programming
    • Liaise with local schools and colleges, as well as other organizations based within the community, to establish and maintain relationships and actively promote HWLA
    • Establish a local, national and international network of useful and productive education partnerships that could result in collaborative projects and events; research and review educational programs to stay current in the field; collate, analyze and apply feedback on the educational activities provided
    • Create and develop educational resources for all visitors
    • Lead and design tours of exhibitions, using both formal and informal teaching, to a broad spectrum of groups
    • Administrate and manage all group bookings to HWLA to ensure that the specific needs, interests and learning objectives of the audience are met.
    • Manage and develop relationships with freelance education practitioners and ensure that they receive appropriate training and are kept up to date with HWLA news and exhibition program.
    • Responsible for the monthly Family Studio program and Garden School Foundation activities; Initiate and manage additional family programs that engage and expand the gallery’s audience
    • Initiate and create promotional material, in collaboration with the Communications Manager, for all education and community outreach activities and assist with the promotion using the appropriate communication channels
    • Collate, analyze and apply feedback on the activities provided and evaluate and measure impact of programs
    • Represent HWLA as necessary
    • Prepare and manage annual budget for Education and Community Outreach, monitor costs and provide necessary information for financial reporting
    • Assist in developing the Gallery’s internship program and provide event-specific oversight for staff, interns and volunteers as needed for education programs
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Skills/ Abilities / Experience

    • A strong personal commitment to community education
    • Ability to develop and implement community outreach programs and partnerships related to the Gallery’s mission, vision, and philosophy.
    • Strong facilitation and group leadership skills.
    • Familiarity with and understanding of issues of diversity and inclusion, with knowledge of how those issues are particularly navigated in Los Angeles
    • Experience working with youth, schools, business, elected and government officials, inter-faith, and/or community groups.
    • Experience working in a leadership capacity with diverse groups.
    • Ability to conceive, develop, and complete tasks without close supervision.
    • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong presentation, oral, and written communication skills.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of Bachelors Degree, preferably in Education or related field.
    • Minimum five-year experience working with galleries, arts education programs, after-school programs, and with local communities in Los Angeles
    • Experience working with artists and communities
    • A demonstrated ability to lead and energize multi-disciplinary work teams to respond to needs and get results.
    • Strong community network and networking abilities
    • Excellent communication skills, including computer and interpersonal skills.

    We are looking for a Gallery Assistant to join our team in Los Angeles. This position requires great attention to detail, organization, diplomacy and an in-depth understanding of the gallery world. The Gallery Assistant is expected to plan, communicate and act independently and collaboratively, as projects require.

    Main Tasks
    Duties include but are not limited to:

    Front Desk
    - Answering phones and managing general gallery voicemail and inbox
    - Handling all outgoing mail, including FedEx, USPS and messenger deliveries
    - Responsibility for mailings such as exhibition invitation cards, catalogues, books and other
    - Coordinating incoming and outgoing book shipments – incl. storage
    - Making sure gallery is always neat for every occasion, maintaining the high standards of gallery appearance both during exhibitions and in between shows
    - Maintain all book displays, exhibition materials and signage
    - Staffing the front desk and managing sales in the gallery book shop
    - Organized filing and record keeping
    - Responsibility for managing new address entries and updates
    - Ordering and storage of office equipment, stationary and general office supplies as well as kitchen supplies
    - Ensuring that the archive and main library are constantly up to date and well organized
    - Assist with travel arrangements of staff and visitors

    - Hiring, training, and supervising gallery interns

    Exhibition organization
    - Compiling guest lists for opening dinners
    - Supervise distribution of invitations, RSVPs, and guest lists
    - Organization of gallery openings and exhibition events
    - Set up and dismantle for events
    - Organize hotel bookings for artists and their assistants
    - Assist with any promotional and marketing events and activities
    - Provide administrative support to the Education Department in the organization of tours and public events

    Requirements
    - A minimum of two years experience in an art gallery
    - 5 day work week, with overtime as required
    - Flexible schedule with weekend availability
    - Excellent communication and problem solving skills
    - Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions
    - Ability and confidence to take initiative
    - Knowledge of and passion for modern and contemporary art

    We are looking for a communications intern to join our team in Los Angeles. This position requires great attention to detail, organization and diplomacy.

    During your six month internship, you will be assigned a broad range of tasks that ensure you gain an understanding of how a large international gallery like Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles operates. This position will work closely with the gallery assistants and with the Communications Manager. Responsibilities could include assisting with the execution of private views and press previews, updating and managing exhibition documents, organizing events and sending mail outs in addition to daily administrative duties.

    An ideal candidate for this internship is required to be fluent in English, have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), experience in proofreading and editing, strong research skills and be organized with an ability to prioritize. A successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter with a poised and friendly demeanor. An interest in art and the art world is key. Familiarity with Mac OS is a must as well as proficiency with InDesign and all Adobe CS6 and programs.

    Mail / Couriers

    Gallery management

    • Database: Responsible for non-VIP and staff entry updates
    • Liaise with HWZ on ordering of all CI compliant stationery, etc.
    • Supplies:
      • Supervise supplies of Stationary and all gallery consumables
      • Responsible for all fax machines, photocopiers and coffee machines
      • Responsible for mobile phone and fixed phone line contracts plus phone maintenance and upgrades ; Checks and approves suppliers invoices
    • Organize storage
    • Assist with travel arrangements of staff as requested
    • Responsible for Art Dimensions training and general induction for new hires in collaboration with HR responsible
    • Responsible for hotel contracts

    Organise internal private views and Special Events as requested

    • Supervise the mailout of invitations

    • Responsibility during event set up and dismantle
    • Responsible for booking venues on selected events
    • Responsibility of RSVPs and guest list on selected events

    Requirement

    • A minimum of 4 years experience in an art gallery
    • Excellent supervisory, communication and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively
    • Knowledge of contemporary art
    • Exceptional customer service skills and friendly demeanor
